On June 3rd, 2013, President Obama challenged Americans to hold a national conversation to increase understanding and awareness about mental health. In response, a coalition of organizations has begun an initiative called “Creating Community Solutions” which is a key element of the national conversation.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Beaufort County, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, Mental Health America, and the South Carolina Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will be joining others around the country to answer the President’s call by holding the “creating Community Solutions for Mental Health in the Lowcountry” discussion. These national discussions will lead to action plans designed to improve mental health programs and services for families, schools and communities across the country.
