We have a handout on stigma and a tip sheet for discussing mental health with children and youth available as resources to help guide a group discussion. If you have questions please email! We look forward to your class or group participating!
Please forward this information to any adult leaders of children and youth: youth organizations, faith communities, private providers, anyone working with youth.
This is a wonderful opportunity to provide information and have discussions with young people about mental/behavioral health issues. Awareness of the issues will aid understanding with the hope of helping to eliminate stigma that keeps many from seeking help. Mental/behavioral health can include discussions about mental health disorders that are very misunderstood, bullying as a result of behaviors that others don’t understand and the further harm that can be caused as a result, substance use and abuse is also a behavioral health issue that can cause mental health problems. Adolescents with undiagnosed or untreated mental health issues often turn to substances to relieve the emotional pain or deal with depression which only worsen as a result.
