Improving Police Response to Persons with Mental Illness

The National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health continues to advocate for community based collaborations that improve interactions between law enforcement and people needing assistance during severe emotional crises. Recently, Sandra Spencer and Elaine Slaton participated in the International Association of Chiefs of Police Policy Summit to develop recommendations for police departments. The report has been released.
