Youth M.O.V.E. South Carolina

Youth Motivating Others through Voices of Experience (M.O.V.E.) South Carolina is currently recruiting new members to its Youth Advisory Council!! Joining the council is an excellent opportunity for youth to help others while gaining valuable experience.

Youth who are eligible to apply are between the ages of 13 and 25 who have current or past involvement in a helping system (like mental health, juvenile justice, child welfare, substance abuse or alternative or special education). This may be as a participant in services or as a sibling of a participant in services.

 If you are interested in applying for the Youth Advisory Council (or know of a youth who might be), please complete the Application for Youth Advisory Council Membership and email to jenah.cason@fedfamsc.org,fax to 803-772-5212 or mail to 810 Dutch Square Blvd., Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29210. We are looking for youth from all across the state, so please spread the word!!

Federation of Families of SC and Youth M.O.V.E. SC are having an Ice Cream Party for the Richland/Lexington Parent Support Network and Youth M.O.V.E. Network meeting. The meetings are for parents/guardians and youth ages 12 and above who have received services from a mental health or substance abuse professional, have been involved with foster care or had any contact with the juvenile justice system. Youth can bring their siblings and/or friends (also ages 12 and up) to the meeting, also! We need the expertise of youth to promote systems change!

The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Jenah Cason at 803-772-5210 or jenah.cason@fedfamsc.org for more information about the meeting or to RSVP. Please share the attached flyers with anyone who knows or works with families and youth who have experience in these areas.

Youth M.O.V.E. South Carolina is the state chapter of Youth M.O.V.E. National and provides youth with the opportunity to unite their voices in an effort to raise awareness around youth issues. We advocate for youth rights and voice in mental health and other related systems in order to make them equal partners in the process of change.

  • Apply for the Statewide Youth Advisory Council
