April Respite Care: Because You Deserve It!
April 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am EDT
Respite Care is a temporary break for caretakers of children with additional needs. This gives parents a relief where they can just take some time for themselves or use the time to complete other chores.
As part of Project COPE through the Federation of Families of SC, we will be offering a Respite Care Support Service. This will take place on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. There will be two groups separated by Middle School and High School students so that we can tailor the respite care to their environments. Due to COVID-19, this service will be adjusted to take place virtually. We will try our best to give the caretakers a break during a challenging time by engaging their youth on a Virtual App called Microsoft Teams. Even though it is online, our service will provide a safe, fun, and warm environment that will act as a “home away from home” while at home. We hope to do this by offering entertaining games to help create a sense of social interaction along with self-care activities to promote emotional wellness. This service is created to give caretakes a break and we strongly encourage it because “you deserve it.”
