The Federation of Families of South Carolina is a nonprofit organization established to serve the families of children with any degree of emotional, behavioral or psychiatric disorder. The services and programs offered by the Federation are designed to meet the individual and varying needs of families around the state. Through support networks, educational materials, publications, conferences/workshops and other activities, the Federation provides many avenues of support for families of children with emotional, behavioral or psychiatric disorders.

Our vision is to address the unique needs of children and youth with emotional, behavioral and mental disorders and their families that they may lead productive lives.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide leadership in the area of children’s mental health through education, awareness, support, and advocacy for families of children and youth with emotional, behavioral, mental and/or substance use disorders.  


  • To provide technical assistance and support to families and family groups in addressing the unique needs of children and youth who either have or have the potential for emotional, behavioral or mental disorders empowering them to navigate the current mental health system and to advocate for an improved mental health system of care.
  • To participate in prevention and intervention activities and to promote the design of comprehensive community-based services with availability for children and their families.
  • Facilitate a network of information to and from parents, youth and providers to provide awareness and advocacy for the use of “best practices” in the field of mental health services.
  • To involve families and youth in policy and program development to ensure accessible and culturally appropriate services.
